I created this blog to make navigating money a little easier, more practical, and hopefully even a little less intimidating.

I was raised in Jamaica, and growing up there shaped the way I think about money, community, and making the most of what you have. As part of the Jamaican diaspora, I also understand how easy it can be to feel disconnected from the resources and opportunities available back home. There are services, programs, businesses, investment opportunities, and other resources on the island that can be incredibly valuable—but finding reliable information about them isn’t always easy. One of my goals is to help bridge that gap.

Here, I’ll share information that can help members of the diaspora stretch their dollar and make more informed financial decisions. Whether you’re sending money home, planning to invest in Jamaica, looking for services on the island, thinking about buying property, or simply trying to figure out where your money can go further, I want One One Penny to be a place you can turn to. My goal is to gather useful information and make it easier to discover the resources that are already available to you.

Of course, money matters wherever you live, so One One Penny will also cover the everyday financial topics we all have to navigate. I’ll also share tips, tricks, lessons, and useful discoveries as I learn them myself. I don’t claim to have all the answers—and that’s part of the point. We’re learning together.
